Golok or parang are originated from Indonesia, passes through generation over 500 year more, spreading widely through out Java, Sumatra, Bali, Sulawesi, and go far beyond to Nusa Tenggara at the eastern side of the archipellago.
It's a traditional machete, a long blade designated as a working knive at woods, cut the heavy trees in jungle, a handy cutting tools at kitchen, and doing common farming in the field. Yes indeed, golok also putting a significant role as a weapon for Pencak Silat, the origin matrial arts of Indonesia.
In every provinces here we have a unique design and some vary a style of Golok in lenght, shape, weight etc, in this page all item coming from the cultural heritage of blacksmithing in deep inside West Java region, or known well as a "golok sunda". Sundanesse are one of the most influential clan in Java island, mostly inhabitant at west java such as Bandung, Cianjur, Bogor, Ciamis, Tasik, and many parts of this region.
